Greetings from… Puerto Peñasco, Mexico!

Whoops! I fell behind with my January update!

After a really fun New Years in the party area of Phuket, Thailand, Avy and I relocated relocated to a quieter area in Phuket. The trip was also to celebrate Avy’s birthday, which is on January 1st. We we were going to be in Phuket for 9 days and wanted to explore two different areas. We wanted a mix of party at first and the the trip with more relaxing. The plan worked out great. We had so much fun staying in and ordering room service every night! I really enjoyed Phuket. I also found myself really missing after I left. I think i had slightly underestimated the area and didn’t fully take it all in while I was in there. I’m definitely looking forward to a trip back there someday.

Even though I have only been to two cities in Thailand now, the country is one of my favorites that I have been to! I really to check out Chaing Mai next!

On January 7th, I flew from Phuket to Mexico City, Mexico with two layovers: Seoul, Korea & Dallas, Texas. The 6 hours layover in Dallas ended up PERFECT because I was able to dart over to get your driver’s license renewed. My license was going to expire in April, which marks SEVEN YEARS since I have been a Texas resident (at least on paper anyway)!

Mexico City has been on my list of places for a while so I was very happy to spend a little blip of time here. I was only here for 3 days but I had a really good time! I can’t begin to tell you how awesome it was to see CMLL Lucha Libre wrestling at the famous Arena Mexico! Growing up a wrestling fan and going to multiple events, I can say this experience would rank up there with some of the WrestleManias I have been to! It was such a cool experience for me!

On my way to lucha libre, I randomly found the tiniest little gay bar I had ever seen, right around the corner from the arena. I’ll bet the maximum occupancy was maybe 6 people. They were playing the latest episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race on the screen so I went back for a few drinks after the Friday night wrestling was over! Lots of good conversations with new friends there!

I flew into Las Vegas on January 11th, picked up my van, and darted down to the Xscapers Annual Bash in Lake Havas, Arizona. It was awesome seeing a bunch of RV friends that I hadn’t seen in a while! This last winter I had been international and the winter before this one, I was over in Florida bouncing around so I hadn’t seen some of my road friends in 2 years!

The event was fun and it was important for me to go to. I kind of felt like it was the end of one era for the club band the beginning of a new one. I’ve now done their biggest annual festival for 4 years and I don’t have a desire to do it again for a while. I will keep it on my radar and maybe check it out again in a few years from now.

After the Annual Bash, I darted down to Mexico. I found myself torn between two different paths. I had a bunch of friends down in Baja, Mexico and I had another group of friends in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. The deciding factor for me ended up being family. My brother and his family were down in Penasco so I decided to go down there to spend time with them! I’ve been having a great time catching up with them and hanging out with my nephews on the beach!

To be continued...
