Trolls
Very fittingly, this story begins in December 2023 while I was in Miami, Florida for Art Basil. I was walking with my friend Angela on a narrow sidewalk and we were on our way to a gallery event. There were two girls in front of us, walking slow and looking at their phones. Right before we were about to go around them, I heard them say to each other “It’s over there!”, as they ran off. My friend and I continued on our journey but my curiosity was peaked so I watched to see where they were going. We turned the corner and I saw them approaching a big wooden troll covered in graffiti! It looked really cool so my friend and I made a detour to check out the troll also! As we approached, the girls had finished their photoshoot with it and had moved on to the little plaque in front of it. The plaque had info about the art but I didn’t have time to read it so I asked them what it was. They explained it was from this artist who had built a bunch of them of them and they are all around the world! It sounded very cool! I doubted I would see any more but a few months later, I looked up info about the project. I was impressed he is a recycle artist / activist plus he had just created his 100th troll! There was a map online with all the troll locations scattered across the globe! So awesome! I saw there were a few in Singapore, which I would be visiting soon so my troll hunt began!
